Crochet Floral Shell Stitch Cushion Cover

Despite being able to crochet for over 2 years there is a complete lack of crochet cushion covers in our house. Its surprising how much of my work  I give away and not actually keep for myself so I decided to change that immediately! I had a good rummage through my crafty book collection and found this gorgeous cushion cover pattern in Cute & Easy Crochet with Flowers by Nikki Trench. I got this book for Christmas and I seriously want to make everything in it, every project is exactly as it says on the cover.. Cute & Easy!

With tea and biscuits at the ready I crocheted the 2 shell stitch panels, the pattern is repetitive over 2 rows so is super easy to remember and works up really quickly.

I made the roses, flowers and leaves and arranged them on one cover and stitched them in place.  I admit I wasn’t confident enough with the big rose pattern (but I’m working on it!) so I crocheted the roses for the head band earlier on in the book.

Next up I double crocheted the 2 pieces together, it also says to add a shell stitch border but I left that off as I crocheted the 2 panels quite tightly over my cushion cover and it made it quite difficult, whoopsy!

I used Stylecraft Special Dk in Parma Violet, Apricot, Lipstick, Raspberry, Candlyfloss, cream and Meadow Green.

I love my new cushion cover, it goes perfectly in our living room so I guess I have to hook more for the other chairs. I think I might do them in the same colours but in a different sequence. Best pop the kettle on!

Have you made anything from this book?
